Amad Inspires Stunning Comeback as Manchester United Triumph Over Manchester City
Manchester United pulled off a late drama-filled comeback to clinch a close 2-1 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Using the outcome,
United concludes their 2-game losing streak in the Premier League and also stops such downturns in the rest of the season,
and Amad Diallo is Man-of-the-match.
City looked on the way to getting three points after first-half goal from Joško Gvardiol’s. But,
United capitalised on defensive errors at the end of the game,
when Bruno Fernandes converted an 88th minute penalty, and Amad scored in the last minute.
Match Breakdown
City controlled the ball for much of the early part of the game
yet could not turn possession into genuine opportunities
with their only shot of note that of Phil Foden’s ambitious volley which went wide early in the first 20 minutes. They did the impossible (breaking the deadlock), at the 36th minute as Kevin De Bruyne own deflected cross fell to Gvardiol, whose clinical header found the corner.
United, however, improved significantly after halftime. Amad had a header parried by Ederson and Fernandes missed a one-on-one opportunity after an excellent ball by Rasmus Højlund.
The changeover occurred at the 88th minute when Matheus Nunes’ careless back pass resulted in him fouling Amad inside the box. Fernandes coolly took the resulting penalty shot and equalised. Moments later, a tackle from Lisandro Martinez netted Amad a purse. The winger showed composure to beat Ederson and slot home the winner, sending the traveling fans into raptures.
City’s Struggles Continue
For Pep Guardiola, the defeat marked another disappointing outing in what has been a turbulent season.
City have yet to win in any of their past seven Premier League appearances and are further and further behind in the race for the title. Injuries Including but not limited to, Rodri and an overstretched defence with Nunes playing as a sole solution on the left flank of the left side, they became more susceptible.
The uncanny absence of City’s usual second-half performance and Nunes’ fatal own-goal both came at a cost. Their sense of security was rudely shattered after Fernandes equalised and thus Amad’s finish of it came.
Amorim’s Tactical Triumph
It is also a decisive win for Ruben Amorim’s tenure Man U. Despite a seeming early setback, viz, the loss of Mason Mount, Amorim’s tactical reinventions turned out to be successful.
His decision to entrust Amad with a new task has been confirmed as the winger has been flourishing under the care of the Portuguese coach
What’s Next?
Conversely City will also need to bounce back quickly to confront a decisive match with Aston Villa
for the Manchester team and at the moment
they are the only team behind the leaders by five points and therefore will be trying to maintain their recent form.
