Marcus Rashford Cheers on Teammates After Manchester United’s Dramatic Derby Win Over City
Marcus Rashford may have been absent from Manchester United’s squad for their thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City, but that didn’t stop the star forward from joining in on the celebrations from afar.
United, trailing for most of the game, turned the tables in the final five minutes. A Bruno Fernandes penalty and a scrappy winner from Amad Diallo sealed the comeback, handing City their eighth defeat in 11 games across all competitions.
“Yesssssssss! Love it lads. “
Rashford and Garnacho Omitted
Head coach Ruben Amorim addressed the surprise omissions of Rashford and Garnacho,
confirming there were no injuries or disciplinary issues involved.
Instead, Amorim stressed the need to keep up a high professional level,
especially during a difficult time for the club as unemployment has affected services.
Speaking after the match, Amorim elaborated: Speaking after the match, Amorim elaborated:
“This has nothing to do with sending a message or punishing somebody. It’s all to do with the way in which everybody should live up to the expectations of Man Utd. They are both top players, and the option is still there to have them in the team for the Carabao Cup match against Tottenham. It all comes down to how hard they work in training. “
Amad’s Heroics and United’s Resurgence
Rashford’s sense of camaraderie with his teammates is spot on – particularly with Amad Diallo doing a man-of-the-match job. The 22-year-old winger won the penalty that Fernandes converted and scored the winning goal with a composed finish in stoppage time.
Amorim’s United are displaying signs of a resurgence after snapping a two-game Premier League losing sequence. The victory sees them leap up to 12th in the table and just 5 points behind City, who are still in fifth position.
Looking Ahead
Although Rashford’s absence has fuelled speculation, the unambiguous stance of Amorim with respect to meritocracy and professionalism already shapes the future attitude of the team. Having a key EFL Cup quarter final to look forward to, against Tottenham Hotspur, Rashford and Garnacho may once again be considered for selection if they show the required attitude in training.
